Michael F. Kashtan was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and raised in Rochester, New York. Mr. Kashtan received his Bachelor of Science degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo in 1979, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1983.
Mr. Kashtan was admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida in 1983. He also served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Joseph Nesbitt of the Florida Third District Court of Appeals in 1983.
Mr. Kashtan has over twenty five years experience in the practice areas of construction litigation, commercial litigation, insurance litigation, arbitration and mediation. He has successfully represented numerous architects and engineers on issues ranging from simple contract disputes to multi party construction disputes with claims of over $50 million dollars.
Mr. Kashtan has been consistently recognized by Best Lawyers of America, Chambers & Partners and Florida Super Lawyers .With Best Lawyers he has been peer nominated and selected since 2005 and Chambers USA has described Mr. Kashtan as a "tough, highly-ethical and undeniably fair attorney". Mr. Kashtan has been an active member of the Florida Bar and has recently joined the American Bar Association. He is a participating member of the ABA’s Forum of the Construction Industry. In addition, he regularly consults and lectures to the local AIA Chapter, as well as to other professional organizations, and along with the firm represents architects, engineers and developers throughout the State of Florida.
